RALEIGH, NC (November 19, 2010) — Samuel “Bo” Thompson, attorney with Raleigh law firm Yates, McLamb & Weyher, L.L.P. (YMW), has been recognized as a 2010 Emerging Legal Leader by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly. Thompson, along with nine other N.C. attorneys, was selected by a panel of area judges based on the significant impact he has already made on the legal profession and the community at large. The honorees, who were chosen from a pool of 30 finalists and have all practiced 10 years or less, were announced at a November 16th ceremony held the Proximity Hotel in Greensboro. Thompson focuses his practice on medical and legal malpractice defense, general civil defense and collegiate/academic disciplinary code defense. Nominated by YMW Founding Partner Dan McLamb, Thompson has demonstrated analytical ability, diligence, and vision in his practice of law and has repeatedly volunteered to take on leadership responsibilities within the firm. Thompson’s leadership extends beyond YMW as demonstrated through his involvement with numerous professional organizations, including serving as the 2009 president of the Wake County Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division (WCBA/YLD) and on multiple WCBA committees. For the past four years he has volunteered to interview bar exam candidates as they seek admission to the practice of law in North Carolina. After receiving his undergraduate degree from UNC-Chapel Hill and prior to starting at Campbell Law School, Thompson served as a faculty member at Broughton High School in Raleigh. His passion for working with young people and fostering a positive educational experience continues today. Since graduating from law school he has participated in numerous intramural, local and regional mock trial competitions and served as the coordinator for a national trial competition. He speaks annually to a trial advocacy class on the development and use of exhibits in litigation. In addition, he has served for 10 years as the alumni association advisor for the UNC-CH chapter of Zeta Psi Fraternity, providing mentoring and networking guidance to undergraduate students. Thompson is a lifelong North Carolina native and resides in Raleigh with his wife Earle. |
