RALEIGH, NC (November 17, 2010) — Yates, McLamb & Weyher, L.L.P. (YMW) attorney Bo Thompson was recently elected to serve on the Wake County Bar Association (WCBA) and Tenth Judicial District Board of Directors. The WCBA and the Tenth Judicial District Bar are related groups serving legal professionals and the public in Wake County. Membership in the WCBA is voluntary, while the Tenth Judicial District Bar is mandatory for attorneys who practice and reside in Wake County. The WCBA Board works to assist its more than 2,200 members in bettering themselves, the profession and public access to, and understanding of, the legal system. The Tenth Judicial District Bar Board investigates public grievances toward attorneys, handles the arbitration of fees and conducts judicial elections. Thompson has previously held multiple roles within the organizations, serving on several WCBA committees (By-Laws Committee 2010, Endowment Committee 2010) and leading the WCBA’s Young Lawyer Division (President 2010, Secretary/President-Elect 2009, Treasurer 2007-2008, Summer Clerk Program Co-Chair 2006-2010), as well as serving on the 10th Judicial District Bar Exam Interview Committee (2009 and 2010). Thompson focuses his practice on medical and legal malpractice defense and general civil defense. He is a 1999 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and a 2004 graduate of the Campbell University School of Law. He was recently selected by North Carolina Lawyers Weekly as a 2010 Emerging Legal Leader and was named a “Rising Star” defense lawyer in the medical malpractice section of the North Carolina Super Lawyers magazine in 2009 and 2010. |
