David M.
Fothergill was born in Kingston, Ontario, Canada, July 1,
1977. He attended college at the University of North
Carolina at Wilmington, where he graduated in 2000 with
honors with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science.
He then attended the Wake Forest University School of Law in
Winston-Salem, North Carolina, graduating in 2003. While in
law school, Mr. Fothergill was a member of the Moot Court
Board and competed in the Kuffman National Securities Law
competition in New York City, in which his team advanced to
the semi-final round. Mr. Fothergill also served as
Associate Chief Justice on the Moot Court Executive Board in
2003.
Following law
school, Mr. Fothergill joined Wilson & Coffey, LLP in
Winston-Salem in September of 2003 where he practiced in the
areas of professional malpractice and insurance defense.
While at Wilson & Coffey, Mr. Fothergill tried multiple
cases in state superior court, and before the American
Arbitration Association. He joined Yates McLamb & Weyher,
LLP in October of 2006 and concentrates his current practice
in insurance defense litigation, construction litigation,
and automobile and product liability litigation.
