Claire A. Hunter was born and raised in Marion, North Carolina.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism and Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007 and graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Law in 2010.

Ms. Hunter interned with McGuire Woods and McGuire Woods Consulting after her first year of law school.  After completing her second year, she clerked for Cranfill, Sumner & Hartzog and Yates, McLamb & Weyher, L.L.P.

During her third year of law school, Ms. Hunter interned with Chief Judge Martin at the North Carolina Court of Appeals, as well as in the Orange County District Attorney’s Office.

While in law school, Ms. Hunter received the Gressman-Pollitt Award for Outstanding Oral Advocacy (Best Appellee).  In addition, she led UNC’s Graduate Honor System as the 2009-2010 Graduate Attorney General.  She also served as chairman of the Dean’s Advisory Council and was a member of the Committee on Student Conduct.

Upon successful completion of law school and passing the North Carolina Bar, Ms. Hunter joined Yates, McLamb & Weyher, L.L.P. in the fall of 2010.  She practices in the area of medical malpractice defense litigation.

Ms. Hunter lives in Raleigh and, in her spare time, enjoys traveling, attending UNC sporting events, listening to live music, and visiting with friends and family.
