John T. Honeycutt was born in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, in 1967.  He graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1989 with a Bachelor of Arts with distinction in English.  He continued his education at the University of North Carolina, receiving his J.D. in 1992.  While in law school, he participated in the Holderness Moot Court and UNC’s Criminal Practice Clinic representing indigent defendants in the community.

Mr. Honeycutt began to practice law in Durham with the firm of Faison and Fletcher, focusing in medical malpractice.  Subsequently, he practiced with the law offices of Douglas DeBank, which later became DeBank and Honeycutt after Mr. Honeycutt became a partner in 1998.  He concentrated his practice on the defense of personal injury cases and litigation of coverage issues in his practice with DeBank and Honeycutt.

Mr. Honeycutt joined Yates, McLamb & Weyher, L.L.P. and moved his practice to Raleigh in 2000.  His practice involves personal injury, legal malpractice liability, automobile and motorcycle negligence cases, as well as premises liability, construction, toxic tort, and job site liability cases.  He also represents insurance carriers in a wide variety of coverage matters including UM/UIM issues.  He is a partner in the firm.

Mr. Honeycutt and his wife, Selina, have one child.  He enjoys skeet and small bore rifle shooting and is an active member of the Durham County Wildlife Club.
