After becoming increasingly interested in systemic diseases of adults, she returned to medical school and graduated, Alpha Omega Alpha (highest honors), from the University of South Florida College of Medicine. She then completed her internal medicine residency training in Birmingham, Alabama. After practicing medicine for almost ten years she decided to return to school to pursue a degree in law. She graduated, with honors, from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007. She was admitted to the North Carolina bar that same year. She practiced medicine part-time during law school and continues to practice medicine on a limited basis. During law school, Dr. Meyerhoffer received the Gressman-Pollit Award for the best overall oral advocacy. She also served as President of Parents Active as Law Students and as President of Health Law and Policy. She is a member of the American Health Lawyers Association, American Bar Association, and the North Carolina Bar Association. She currently serves on the Medico-Legal Liaison Committee (2009-2010) of the North Carolina Bar Association. Dr. Meyerhoffer had the opportunity to clerk at Yates, McLamb & Weyher, L.L.P. during her first summer of law school. She then realized that she would be able fulfill her goal of fully utilizing her medical knowledge while blending her legal education in defending physicians and hospitals. Immediately after admission to the bar, she joined Yates, McLamb & Weyher, L.L.P. |
