News & Events JASON NEWTON PROVIDES INSIGHT AT THE NORTH CAROLINA ASSOCIATION OF DEFENSE ATTORNEYS’ FALL MEETING  

Raleigh, NC (October 13, 2011) – Jason Newton of the Raleigh law office Yates, McLamb & Weyher, L.L.P. (YMW), spoke at the North Carolina Association of Defense Attorneys’ Fall 2011 meeting in Greensboro, North Carolina, on October 13, 2011.  He addressed e-discovery issues and new North Carolina law that relates to e-discovery during a breakout session for the medical malpractice section.

A 1994 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Newton received his juris doctor degree from Wake Forest University in 1999 and has practiced with Yates, McLamb & Weyher, L.L.P. since completing law school.  His practice focuses on the defense of doctors, nurses, and hospitals in medical malpractice cases in North Carolina.  A significant portion of his work is devoted to the defense of healthcare providers in catastrophic injury cases and resulting damages.

In the non-medical setting, Newton has been involved in the defense of products liability cases and in a select number of cases on behalf of plaintiffs.  He has significant experience with trying multi-week civil jury trials in state superior court and with conducting focus group exercises.
