News & Events JASON NEWTON RE-ELECTED TREASURER OF THE NORTH CAROLINA CHAPTER OF THE ASSOCIATION FOR HOSPITAL RISK MANAGERS  

RALEIGH, NC (November 29, 2010) — Jason Newton, partner in Raleigh law firm Yates, McLamb & Weyher, L.L.P. (YMW), has been re-elected to serve as the statewide treasurer of the North Carolina Chapter of the Association for Hospital Risk Managers (ASHRM). He was first elected to the position in 2008 and will serve another two-year term.

Newton, a partner at YMW, focuses his practice on medical malpractice defense, medical board proceedings, selective plaintiffs’ litigation, commercial litigation and construction litigation. He is a board member of the N.C. ASHRM and has previously spoken at the organization’s yearly conferences.

He graduated with an undergraduate degree in political science from Wake Forest University in 1994. He spent his first year of law school at Mercer University in Macon, GA, but after deciding he wanted to practice law in North Carolina, transferred and graduated from Wake Forest University’s School of Law in 1999.

N.C. ASHRM was established in 1980 and has over 200 active members. The organization focuses on advancing the development and professional practice of healthcare risk management through education and training.
